A friendly introduction. Imaginative fully participatory and rewarding study days on Gregorian Chant led by John Rowlands-Pritchard.
As a Festival event these are for everyone and no specialist knowledge or skill is necessary. The careful structuring of the day and clarity of explanation opened up a world I had thought of as entirely beyond my reach. Sarah Scaife, North East Museums and Libraries Council

WHO TEACHES? Workshops are led by John Rowlands-Pritchard. He was a pupil of John Stevens at Cambridge, and gave lecture demonstrations of Professor Stevens isosyllabic interpretation of mediaeval monody. He studied the performance of early chant with Dr. Mary Berry, illustrating her lectures and broadcast talks, and sang and recorded regularly with her specialist group Schola Gregoriana of Cambridge as Cantor.
"Boys and men alike have been most enthusiastic about the plainsong and about your patient guidance which enabled them to enjoy the experience so much. Perhaps the most heartening thing was the degree of interest and sheer fascination this music aroused amongst our senior boy choristers. It was a joy to see how quickly and naturally these youngsters took to the more complex chants." Paul Trepte, Ely Cathedral Choir
